CPH Wolves release team

Copenhagen Wolves have announced that they have parted ways with their CS:GO team with immediate effect.

The future of the Danish team had been up in the air for over a month after Michael "Friis" Jørgensen was released from his contract due to personal reasons and Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen was sold to dignitas.

At Copenhagen Games and at the ESL Pro League finals, CPH Wolves fielded Jørgensen and Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer as substitutes, and they performed above expectations at the Danish event, finishing 7th/8th after beating 3DMAX and Orbit in the playoffs.

Earlier in the week, speculation about the future of CPH Wolves' CS:GO team intensified after Pfeiffer and Danni "smF" Dyg were announced as part of a new team called FLÆKKEHOLDET, featuring three members of the Reason Gaming lineup which managed to qualify for two major events.

Having grown tired of the instability surrounding the team, CPH Wolves have now decided to close their CS:GO division, this way putting an end to "a turbulent period with mixed results and an ever changing rotation of players."

"It is with tears in my eyes i have to tell you that Copenhagen Wolves CS:GO Division will not be rebuilt," Nicolai "HUNDEN" Petersen said in a satement.

"With Michael “Friis” Friis getting released from his contract and Mathias “MSL” Lauridsen sold to Team Dignitas, it was left to  Acilion, SMF and me to rebuild [the team].

"We have tried many players lately and after ESL Pro League Finals, Danni “SMF” Dyg decided to stop playing leaving me and Acilion with a daunting task that was too much to handle.

"I would like to thank everyone behind Copenhagen Wolves, and their awesome sponsors for making this possible in the first place. In regards to the future it’s still unclear what will happen whether or not me and AcilioN will continue to play together only time can tell"

It is unclear whether CPH Wolves plan on making another competitive foray into CS:GO in the near future. The following players are now free agents:

 Nicolai "HUNDEN" Petersen
 Asger "AcilioN" Larsen
