fnatic, dignitas move on in Tours

fnatic and dignitas are through to the semi-finals at DreamHack Open Tours after finishing in the top two places in Group A.

Day two of DH Open Tours, the first stop on DreamHack's event calendar for 2015, began with an all-French clash between LDLC White and Awsomniac, the two finalists of the BYOC qualifier. Due to coming from the Upper Bracket, the former Platinium eSports side required just one map to win the series, so a 16-14 victory on de_cobblestone saw them take the top seed heading into the main tournament.

Awsomniac were thus placed in Group A and were pitted against fnatic in the first round of the group stage. As expected, the Swedish side were far too strong for the home side to handle and quickly ran out 16-4 winners. Meanwhile, FlipSid3 Tactics and dignitas played out a thrilling encounter that went to overtime, with the Danish picking up a 19-17 triumph despite a great showing by Aleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev.

In the Upper Bracket final, fnatic got off on the right foot and took a commanding 13-2 lead after playing on the Terrorist side of de_cache. dignitas gave a much better account of themselves in the second half and cut the deficit to just a couple of rounds, but in the end fnatic secured a 16-12 victory to secure the top spot in the group.

The Consolidation Final saw dignitas and FlipSid3 Tactics face each other once again, but this time around the match was completely one-sided as Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen's men cruised to a 16-4 victory on de_mirage.

fnatic and dignitas are thus through to the semi-finals of the $40,000 tournament, in which they will face a team coming from Group B, featuring EnVyUs, Titan, LDLC White and HellRaisers.
